Indoor Lacrosse Rules & Regulations



Subject: 2019 Boys Lacrosse Rules

(1) LIMITED BODY CONTACT: Players must always play the ball, period.  No hitting at all! EQUAL PRESSURE is allowed when playing defense and appropriate physical play is allowed stop an attacker from advancing to the cage.  This does not include overly aggressive collisions with the "intent to hit or target the opposing player.  No checking or pushing into the perimeter nets. Illegal body contact will lead to ejection and or removal from the league;  fighting will result in immediate ejection and removal from the league;

 

(2) Each team will play with a maximum of 2 long poles.  A team can play without long poles too.  (Seven field players and a goalie: 2 attack, 3 mid-fielders, 2 defensemen)

 

(3) One handed stick checks are strongly discouraged.  An uncontrolled stick will result in a penalty ALL the time!

 

(4) Every player must wear a mouthpiece!

 

(5) Games are 2 running time halves.(25 min. each ) No time-outs.  Half time is 3 min.  No overtime

 

(6) Back court rule:  If a ball is thrown back once a player has entered the offensive side, this will result in loss of possession.  (NJ High School Rule - "Over and Back")

 

(7) 5 Goal Rule: A team down by 5 or more goals gets the ball back at midfield after scoring.

(8)  All subbing is done on the fly.

 

(9) Net:

     The white line on the sideline is the boundary or "out of bounds" mark.  A ball touching the net is "out of bounds" - DO NOT PLAY.

     A ball that hits the net has no longer playable.

     DO NOT HIT A PLAYER INTO THE NET.  Hitting the player into the net is a # MINUTE UNRELEASABLE PENALTY

    A player that receives 5 min in penalties is dismissed from the game.

 

(10) FIGHTING: ABOLUTELY NO FIGHTING.  Fighting will result in expulsion from the league without a refund.

 

(11)National Federation of State High Schools(NFHS) Boys Lacrosse Rules will be followed.  Modifications are made above to adapt to the indoor game.

 

The intent of all the rules is to keep our lacrosse players safe, while promoting athletic and competitive play, the highest level of sportsmanship and enhance the skill and development of our lacrosse players.

 

COACHES, Please assist here, 

 

Please REINFORCE SAFETY near the nets and sidelines. Please talk to your players after the game on the track.  This will enable the next team to warm-up on the field./ Please remind players to discard of water bottles as they exit the field.  Please keep lacrosse bags off the field and keep a clear path for patrons on the track as this is a path to the other lacrosse fields.  DO NOT CUT THROUGH FIELDS TO EXIT THE DOME AS GAMES ARE UNDER WAY!
